Jackie Chan Won’t Leave His Huge Wealth to Son — His Strained Relations with 2 Kids, One of Whom ‘Slept under a Bridge’

Jackie Chan is a beloved actor who made it big in Hollywood despite racial biases.Although he stole the hearts of fans, he has a complicated relationship with his children. The actor abandoned his daughter and refuses to leave his fortune to his son, although he explained why.

Jackie Chan is a name that is almost synonymous with Hollywood martial arts films. Throughout his career, the actor has established himself as one of the most preeminent athletes in Hollywood, becoming the face of martial arts for many raised on his action-packed yet humorous brand of films.

Besides his unique blend of action and comedy, fans have also been enamored by the actor’s determination to make it in an industry that doesn’t always promote outsiders. Starting his career in Hong Kong, where he was born, Chan worked hard to move out of the shadow of martial arts legend Bruce Lee.

Following Lee’s untimely death, Chan saw his opportunity to make a name for himself. He did well in a range of low-budget martial arts films produced by Hong Kong-based production companies and slowly made a name for himself. Fairly soon, the martial artist became a well-known face in action films.

After the affair, Chan’s mistress gave birth to Etta Ng Chok Lam, although Chan has reportedly refused to have a relationship with his illegitimate child. After a range of smaller films, Chan finally found considerable success with his 1978 action comedy “Drunken Master.” Two years later, he made his directorial debut, and Robert Clouse tempted the actor to the U.S., where he would first break into the American market. Although the U.S. was tough at first, he kept persisting.

After focusing on his East-Asian market for a while, Chan returned to America, where he slowly featured in more films. Eventually, he got his big break with “Rush Hour,” establishing him as a Hollywood star. From there on out, he would feature in several films and finally separated himself from the image of Bruce Lee.

Chan’s Life Off-Screen
While Chan was slowly becoming the new face of martial arts, both in Hong Kong and in Hollywood., the actor also struggled with a few personal problems. While breaking out into the U.S. market was no walk in the park, the actor also dealt with public backlash after he had an affair with Elaine Ng Yi-Lei in 1999.

Although Chan shares a closer bond with his son than with his daughter, the actor has been vocal about the fact that he will not be leaving the young man his wealth.
The scandal spread, especially since Chan had been married to Joan Lin since 1982. News outlets soon found out that the affair had resulted in a pregnancy, and Chan was forced to address the controversy. The actor confessed that he had made a mistake that had influenced the lives of everyone involved.

The actor took responsibility for his actions, noting, “I’m not a saint.” He explained that the ensuing media frenzy had been almost impossible to navigate. Although the actor desperately wanted to talk to his wife about what happened, he had no idea what he would say to her or how he would explain his actions.

After the affair, Chan’s mistress gave birth to Etta Ng Chok Lam, and Chan reportedly refused to have a relationship with his illegitimate child. In 2018, Ng released a video alongside her partner, social media influencer Andi Autumn, explaining that their families had abandoned them entirely.

Ng said in the video that they had been forced out of their parental homes and onto the streets because of their sexual orientation, noting that neither of their families would have anything to do with them. She revealed, “We’ve been homeless for a month due to homophobic parents. We pretty much slept under a bridge and other things.”

Ng went on to explain that they were afraid to go to government shelters in case they got split up. Autumn also chimed in, saying she reached out to all her friends and family in the hopes that someone would be willing to help, but to no avail. The video was their last hope to be heard and find some help.

This year, the video resurfaced online after a clip of Chan and the daughter of his character in “Ride On” sharing an emotional moment was used to promote the film. At first, many thought it was Chan’s real daughter, but social media users were quick to point out that the actor’s real daughter wanted nothing to do with him.

Ng and Autumn managed to stick it out. Although little is known about how they managed after that video, the pair reportedly married in November 2018 and remain together. It seems that Chan has still not reconciled with his daughter, although he reportedly has a closer relationship with his son, Jaycee Chan.

Although Chan shares a closer bond with his son than with his daughter, the actor has been vocal about the fact that he will not be leaving the young man any of his money. The actor noted that he wanted to instill a rigorous work ethic into his boy and claimed that leaving him a fortune would merely inspire laziness. He explained:

“If he is capable, he can make his own money. If he is not, then he will just be wasting my money. I really regret not sending him into the army in the past, to give him more experience and temper his character.”

Jaycee, also known as Jaycee Fong, has chosen to follow in his father’s footsteps by becoming an actor and singer. He attended The College of William & Mary and is listed as a talented actor, singer, composer, lyricist, and multi-instrumentalist. He is also an award-winning musician in Asia.

His 2004 self-titled debut “Jaycee” attracted much attention in the Asian market, garnering a few awards for Best New Male Singer. Nonetheless, Chan has insisted that his son can’t rest on his laurels, pushing him to work hard for everything he earns. Chan reportedly went so far as to book his son into economy class whenever they fly together.
