Coco Jones’ parents, Michael David Jones and Javonda Jones, have been by their daughter’s side throughout her career, whether by rooting for her while she sang the national anthem at a football game or inspiring her style of music over the years.

Coco Jones Shares a Close Relationship with Her Parents
After furthering her education at the University of South Carolina, Javonda ventured into the commercial and federal construction industry, where she ran a business that provided “solution and entrepreneurial skills to business challenges” for fifteen years.

However, in 2010, Javonda began running her daughter’s company Real U Incorporated, also known as Coco Jones Company, in Nashville, Tennessee.During an interview, Coco revealed that her music was influenced by soulful artists like Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin, singers her mother used to listen to. However, over the years, the “Holla at the Dj” singer has also drawn inspiration from Summer Walker, SZA, and Ella Mai. Coco added:

“In the industry, you meet your heroes, and you’re really not supposed to do that… My mom is the only one I really looked up to because I knew her character.”

Coco’s father spent eight years playing in the NFL, including being on the Super Bowl-bound Tennessee Titans team in 1999. In 2015, Coco was a picture of a proud daughter as she celebrated Super Bowl Sunday with a picture of herself holding a photograph of her father and revealed in part, “Here’s my dad, Mike Jones. He played in 2 Super Bowls!”

Following his professional football career as a defensive end, Michael ventured into coaching and aimed to turn around a struggling Division II program at Lincoln University.”It’s been a challenge. Put simply, we recruited the wrong kids whose emphasis wasn’t getting their college degree. And then we had to change that,” Michael said.

In 2020, Coco turned to Facebook to celebrate her dad on Father’s Day and captioned the post, “From the first day, and every day after, you are always on my side. Always believing in me.. and loving me! Thank you, Dad. Happy Father’s Day to the greatest Father ever!”

Coco Jones’ Parents Supported Her Career
Acting wasn’t always in the cards for Coco, as she came from an athletic family. However, after discovering her love of acting, the “Let It Shine”—co-starring Algee Smith and Tyler James Williams—star’s competitive nature motivated her to work harder. And with the support of her parents, Coco has become a force to be reckoned with in the acting industry. Her father said:

“She’s always been my baby. When she did the national anthem at a football game once, I was sweating and more nervous than when I was in the Super Bowl. We have a very close family, and we call her our clutch performer.”

Coco Jones’s Parents Are No Longer Together
Coco Jones not only shares a close relationship with her parents but with her siblings—brothers Steven and Mikey Jr., and little sister Aja—as well. “Anytime I have a break, I’m going to go home and chill with my family, even if it’s just for a night. That’s how much we love being together,” the actress said.

However, after many years of marriage, in 2021, Javonda filed for divorce from Michael. Little is known about the former couple’s separation; however, legal documents revealed the divorce was filed in Florida and was still in progress at the time of writing.
